The dock design includes gangways, river bank stabilization and debris deflection boom. The Missouri River stage can fluctuate over 38 feet and the floating dock is designed to rise and fall with the river mounted to a network of pilings. Solar navigation beacons are included on the upstream and downstream limits to alert commercial and recreational traffic. The gangways and asphalt trails connecting the gangways to parking are placed between the trees to leave natural bank vegetation largely undisturbed
