Jefferson Barracks Park Parking Lot and BMP Design

Project Description

Jefferson Barracks Park Parking Lot and BMP Design

This project illustrates I&L’s parking lot and BMP design capabilities. The St. Louis County Parks Department retained I&L to design the new upper parking lot with stormwater bio-retention water quality BMPs for the Pavilion at Lemay in Jefferson Barracks Park.

The stormwater BMP objective was to design modifications to the existing Bioretention Basin to improve existing deficiencies in the basin and to accommodate the additional surface parking lot. The final design included a 106 vehicle parking lot and a new bio-retention cell, as well as modifications to the existing bioretention facilities and associated stormwater and civil site designs.

The bioretention cell provided channel protection flow control and flood detention storage in addition to water quality benefits.
