Project Description
Brookside Lane Flood Control and Channel Stabilization
This project illustrates I&L’s flood control, culvert, channel, utilities design experience. The City of Ladue was experiencing severe home flooding and channel erosion along Brookside Lane. The existing culvert at Brookside Lane cul-de-sac was undersized and the existing concrete channel was failing. |
The final design includes 120 feet of triple box culvert (10’X7’, 10’X5’, and 10’X5’), 5,488 square feet of modular block retaining walls, prefabricated pedestrian bridge, sanitary sewer relocations, 850 feet of channel stabilization including rock grade controls, fabric and vegetated slopes, vegetated rock slopes, and substantial restoration landscaping. The final design provides sediment transport, erosion control and excellent flood performance. NO FLOODING occurred during the record 2022 storm event of 8.5 inches of rain in 10 hours. |
Public involvement included several public meetings and dozens of kitchen table meetings with individual residents. Construction services include site observations, daily logs, change order processing, shop drawing processing, RFI processing, pay applications, and coordination with residents during construction. |
